Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday organized consultations for Arab countries on revising the version of the "UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education", with support from the UNESCO Office for GCC states and Yemen.

The two-day consultations are being held via videoconferencing.

Oman is represented at the consultations by Dr Hamad Saif al Hammami, Oman’s Permanent Representative to the UNESCO.

The consultations bring together a number of experts, professionals and specialists. They are aimed to reach in-depth ideas on regional needs, areas of deficiency and priorities.

The consultations are an opportunity to present recommendations that provide guidance for devising the desired framework. They also contribute to preparations for the "World Conference on Culture and Arts Education", which will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates in December 2023.

Al Hammami said that the recommendations of the session will help shape the future framework, which seeks to reach consensus on factors of priority to the Arab region.

He pointed out that the unified summary of the consultations will be presented to the UNESCO's Executive Board at its 216th session scheduled to be held in May 2023.
