Real estate trading in Oman surpasses RO 2.7bn

MUSCAT: The total value of property transactions in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of December 2022 rose by 6 per cent to reach RO 2,706.1 million, compared to RO 2,552.5 million, according to the latest date issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


The figures revealed that the total fees collected for all transactions by the end of December 2022 amounted to RO 62.6 million, a decrease of 25.5 per cent compared to the same period in 2021.


The traded value of sales contracts also decreased by 4.8 per cent, to stand at RO 1,131.5 million by the end of December 2022, compared to RO 1,188.9 million at the end of December 2021.


Sales contracts also saw a decline of 21 per cent, to stand at 68,616 contracts at the end of December 2022, compared to 86,856 contracts at the end of December 2021.


The statistics showed an increase in the traded value of mortgage contracts at the end of December 2022 by 15.9 per cent, to reach RO 1,558.6 million, compared to RO 1,344.6 million at the end of December 2021.


Meanwhile, the number of mortgage contracts reached 19,089 at the end of December 2022, an increase of 5.6 per cent over the same period of 2021 when it stood at 18,082 contracts.


The traded value of swap contracts decreased by 15.6 per cent to reach RO 16.1 million at the end of December 2022, compared to RO 19 million at the end of December 2021.


The number of swap contracts also decreased by 25.5 per cent to reach 1,309 contracts, compared to 1,758 contracts by the end of December 2021.


According to NCSI statistics, as many as 233,178 title deeds were issued by the end of December 2022, a decrease of 7 per cent compared to the end of December 2021.


Meanwhile, the number of title deeds issued for the GCC citizens rose by 6.5 per cent at the end of December 2022 to reach 884 title deeds by the end of December 2022, compared to 830 title deeds at the end of December 2021. -- ONA
