Pakistan's former president Pervez Musharraf has died on Sunday at the age of 79 at a hospital in Dubai , Pakistani local media reported on Sunday.
The former military ruler passed away after a prolonged illness. He was undergoing treatment at American Hospital Dubai.
He was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease Amyloidosis in 2018 in the UAE.
Amyloidosis is a rare disease that occurs when an abnormal protein builds up in organs and interferes with normal function.
Gen. Musharraf had left for Dubai in March 2016 for medical treatment and has not returned since.
