

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Learning's Gifted Care Department, recently organised a winter programme for gifted students via Teams platform. The programme was attended by 424 gifted students who were identified through the Tharwa programme and have passed the Arab Gifted Scale.
The programme consisted of training seminars in various fields such as self-development, practical skills, literature and art. The first period of the programme focused on self-development with sessions on emotional intelligence by Zuwaina al Ghawi and self-confidence building by Abdullah al Ghafri. The second period of the programme featured specialized skill circles, including workshops on smart applications in science and technology by Imtenan al Ghassani, arts and literature by Shaikha al Kalbani, digital art by Adhari al Shaibani, and story writing by Dr Fawzia al Fahdi.
Dr Tariq al Kharousi, Director of the Diagnostics and Gifted Care Department, emphasised the importance of the program in maximizing the students' spare time and developing their talents and potentials.
The programme also aimed to engage the community by involving local experts in the fields being covered and providing vocational guidance to the gifted students. Zuwaina al Ghawi also noted that the programme was a valuable opportunity for students to enhance their self-confidence and develop their personalities beyond the classroom.
The programme aimed to showcase the capabilities and ceativity of the gifted students, educate the community on the role of educational institutions in nurturing their talents, expand the perceptions of the students in their areas of interest, instill confidence in them and highlight their energies and talents.
