'Al Dhabbi' and 'Al Thebah' claim top honours

The last day of the Al Mazayna national competition within the annual festival of private camel races organised by the Oman Camels Racing Federation (OCRF) with the support of the Royal Camel Corps (RCC) concluded at the Al Fulaij camel racetrack in Barka on Thursday.


The concluding ceremony was held under the auspices of Hilal bin Mohammed al Masroori, Director-General of the Royal Gardens and Farms Affairs. The competition lasted for 5 days, and various categories of camels from different governorates participated in it. It included 32 rounds, and many valuable prizes were allocated to the winners.


The competition was divided into 5 days, where the first day included 6 rounds for the 'Al Fatayem' category. The second-day competitions included 6 rounds for the 'Hajj' category. The third-day competitions were in two periods, morning and evening 5 rounds for each. While for the fourth day, it included four rounds held for the Bakkar category, and four rounds were held for the Yathaa category.


Thursday's competitions were held for two rounds.


In the first round, 'Challenge round' owned by Ahmed bin Hamad al Mawali claimed first place, followed by 'Azza' owned by Ahmed bin Hamad al Mawali in second and 'Al Shahiniya', owned by Talal bin Masoud al Sanani in third.


In the second and the main round, 'Al Thebah' snatched the first place, owned by Faisal bin Fahd al Hosani. 'Sogah', owned by Suleiman bin Mohammad al Jahwari claimed second place and 'Al Sultanate', owned by Suleiman bin Mohammad al Jahwari, finished third.


The 11th and final stop of the 20th annual festival for private camel races will be held at the Royal Camel Racecourse in Al Felaij, in the Wilayat of Barka, through the final race for His Majesty the Sultan's Cup from March 13 to 16.
