Oman resident coach selected to play in ITF tourney

A professional tennis coach residing in the Sultanate of Oman is all set to play at the International Tennis Federation (ITF), at the 5 days tournament in southern Indian state of Kerala from February 6 to 10.


Sivan Govind, a trainer at the Indian Social Club (ISC) for the last seven years as tennis coach, will be playing in the category of 40+ out of the five categories, namely, 35+, 40+, 50+, 60+ and 70+ in the Kerala capital of Thiruvananthapuram.


Govind, who has been playing tennis for the last 39 years, was Kerala Number 1 and a sub junior top 5 in India as well. He has also played at All India Inter University and won third place. As a tennis coach, he had worked in Dubai for 17 years before he moved to Oman.


He also had the opportunity to work 10 years at the Dubai Tennis Championship and boasts of many career highlights as well. He had earlier played seniors ITF 35+ at Dehradun and reached doubles final runner-up, besides reaching the semifinal of Chennai ITF 35+ section.


More than 100 tennis players will be participating in the International Tennis Federation tournament in Thiruvananthapuram. The finals will be held on February 10.
