Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has denied reports that the Sultanate of Oman stopped taking samples of every agricultural shipment that is imported to the Sultanate.

The ministry said in a statement on Twitter that all imports of agricultural products from all countries are subject to examination and analysis according to a food control program based on an assessment of the risk system from the competent authorities in the ministry.

The Ministry added that a team from the Food Safety and Quality Center and the Agricultural Quarantine Department visited the country in question to find out about aspects and export regulations in it, and the team confirmed that agricultural products in that country and exported to the Sultanate of Oman come from sources registered by the relevant regulatory authorities in that country.

Farms are monitored to ensure correct agricultural practices, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources affirms its constant concern for the safety of imported agricultural products and makes efforts to examine all incoming agricultural consignments to ensure their safety.
