

MUSCAT: Crude oil and condensate production in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 9.6 per cent to reach 388.434 million barrels in 2022, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Crude oil production alone increased by 12.8 per cent, while the production of oil condensate decreased by 1.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2021.
The average price of Omani crude soared 48.4 per to $95.4 per barrel in 2022, up from $64.3 per barrel during the same period in 2021. The average daily oil production increased by 9.6. per cent, the Centre noted.
Oil exports to Japan recorded a remarkable growth of 179.3 per cent to reach 11.697 million barrels in 2022. Oil exports to South Korea increased by 92.8 per cent, followed by India by 7.8 per cent, then China by 7.6 per cent.
Domestic production of natural gas — including imports via the Dolphin System — increased 3.7 per cent to reach 52.061 billion cubic metres (bcm) in 2022, up from 50.190 bcm in 2021. Associated gas production increased by 9.3 per cent to 10.064 bcm, while non-associated gas production and imports increased by 2.5 per cent to reach 41.997 bcm.
The data indicated an increase in the consumption of natural gas in each of: industrial areas (including industrial areas, Oman Mining Company and Oman Cement) by 12.6 per cent, and industrial projects by 7.4 per cent. As for gas consumption in oil fields (including losses, meter differences and shrinkage coefficient), it decreased by 1.6 per cent, and power plants (including gas consumption at Sultan Qaboos University and the Ministry of Defense) decreased by 1.4 per cent. — ONA
