MUSCAT: The total number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Sultanate of Oman funded by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund (Inma) in 2022 reached 144 projects in various economic sectors with a total value of RO 20 million.
It is led by the industry sector by 20 per cent, then the services sector by 19 per cent, then the transport and logistics sector by 16 per cent, then the infrastructure sector by 15 per cent, then the trade sector by 10 per cent, followed by the tourism sector by 9 per cent, and the oil and gas sector by 8 per cent.
The sectors financed by the Inma in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman were able to increase their production lines and provide a number of products and services to the local market, which contributed to revitalising the economy and increasing cash flows, given the importance of SMEs and their impact on advancing development and encouraging their owners to continue their activities and operations.
The industrial sector, which received the highest percentage of Inma funding during the past year, is one of the vital sectors in the Sultanate of Oman that contribute to reviving the GDP. — ONA
