NIZWA: A swimming course for children has been launched at the Nizwa Sports Complex, under the supervision of swimming coach Ayman Mohammed. The course is being implemented for the eighth time as part of a plan of activities and programmes from the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The course is open to children aged 6 to 14 and will last for four weeks, with two classes per week from January 26 to February 21. A total of 31 trainees of different ages and nationalities are participating in the course.

According to the course's administration, the primary goal of the programme is to pay attention to children's mental and physical activities through swimming. They believe that teaching children to swim is among the priorities that they must learn from childhood, as it will help them to occupy their free time and also enhance their immunity and ability to resist diseases.

In addition to the health benefits, the course also aims to promote the essential role of sport in building a normal personality and a good citizen in general. The swimming course is one of many programmes being implemented by the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to promote healthy living and civic engagement among children in the region.
