Oman Olympic team back to training camps

The head coach of Oman Olympic football team, Akram Habreesh, announced the squad of the team for the forthcoming domestic camp which will take place on Wednesday in Muscat. The short warm-up gathering will run for five days until Sunday as part of the team’s preparation for the future assignments including the Asian qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.


The national experienced coach, Habreesh, opted 26 players from different clubs including: Ayman al Khusaibi, Al Faraj Al Kiyumi (Al Basaher), Yousef al Ghilani (Al Oruba), Hisham al Hilali (Al Rustaq), Nasser al Rawahi, Wael al Harthi (Al Suwaiq), Harib al Adawi, Abdullah al Habsi, Mohammed al Hatmi (Seeb), Mohammed al Balushi (Suhar), Ahmed al Shumosi (Saham), Salim al Abdulsalam (Dhofar), Abdullah al Musharafi (Sur), Mohammed al Araibi, Amer Abed (Dhofar), Said al Salami (Al Khabourah), Omar al Salti, Mahmood al Alawi (Al Oruba), Nooh al Oraimi (Al Musannah), Mohammed Bait Mustahil (Al Nasr), Abdullah al Mukhaini (Al Oruba), Abdullah al Fulaiti (Al Shabab), Mutee al Saadi (Al Suwaiq), Abdullah al Alawi (Yanqul), Khalid al Abadi (Saham) and Loai al Rawahi (Fanja).


Oman Olympic last official’s presence was in the West Asian Under-23 Championship as the team had ended their campaign in fourth place. Oman players suffered a 1-0 loss against Syria in the third and fourth play-off match.


The hosts Saudi Arabian Olympic team had edged past Oman 2-1 in the semifinal and the win took Saudi Arabia to the final match against Qatar. Saudi Arabia were crowned as champions after they had defeated Qatar 3-1 in the final clash.


Oman Olympic team had managed to earn a slot in the semifinal as they had positioned themselves as runners-up in Group A. Oman boys started their campaign with a 4-2 win against Lebanon in the opening match and then suffered a 1-0 loss against Qatar in the following match. Qatar topped the group with four points while Oman came in second with three points. Lebanon were in last place with one point only.
