Shura reviews draft water law

MUSCAT: Majlis Ash’shura referred the draft water and sanitary drainage law to the Services and Social Development Committee. The Majlis sought the opinion of the Legal and Legislative Committee regarding legal drafting of the law.


Majlis Ash’shura held its fifth ordinary meeting of the fourth annual session (2022-2023) held under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman, on Sunday.


The meeting reviewed the final report of the draft law and the opinions of the two committees including details and explanation of the draft law that aims to upgrade the water and sanitary drainage sector in the Sultanate of Oman.


Dr Hamood bin Ahmed al Yahyaei, Chairman and Rapporteur of the Services and Social Development Committee, presented a detailed explanation of the draft law. After thoroughly discussing the draft law, the Majlis mandated the Legal and Legislative Committee and the Services and Social Development Committee to review the legal drafting and other aspects of the draft before discussing it at the Majlis’s upcoming meetings.
