Active cloud formations continued over Al Hajar Mountains that brought thundershowers in the adjoining areas of the mountains and especially North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Muscat governorates by Sunday evening.
“Muscat will begin to receive light to isolated rain by evening and by Monday it will be mainly clear sky,” said the weather forecaster at Oman Met Office.
According to him Sunday had the last active wave of low pressure trough coming in from Iran.
On Sunday morning the aerial photos from Oman Met Office showed the spread of clouds over parts of the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi and the coasts of the Sea of Oman.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected over Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South al Batinah and Muscat governorates with chances of isolated rain occasionally thundershowers, according to Oman Met Office.
The general weather forecast stated that it would be mainly clear skies over the rest of the governorates with medium and high clouds advection and chances of isolated rain along the coastal areas of Dhofar Governorate and adjoining mountains. In addition there are chances of late night and early morning low clouds or fog patches over governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, Wilayat of Al Seeb witnessed light to medium rains, with the continuation of the flow and the formation of rain clouds on the coasts of the Sea of Oman and the Hajar Mountains.
On Saturday night Musannah experienced moderate to heavy rains, with chances of rainy thunderclouds flowing over Barka and the Met office had alerted there would be clouds concentrated on the coast of Muscat Governorate.
Rains of varying intensity was recorded in parts of the wilayats of Al Khabourah and Al Suwaiq.
