Road accidents in Sultanate dropped by 81%

Brigadier Engineer Mohammed bin Awad al Rawas, Director General of Traffic, has said that the number of road accidents decreased by 81 percent and injuries by 64 percent in 2021 compared to 2012 statics.


Speaking on occasion the ROP Day, he said there has been an increase in the number of registered vehicles by 57 percent and the number of driving licenses by 71 percent during the same period. The satisfaction rate of the electronic services provided by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) is 94 percent.


Al-Rawas said that most traffic services are provided electronically, such as vehicle registration and renewal, vehicle license transfer service, vehicle license printing, technical examination, issuance and renewal of driver's license and driver's education license, and booking test appointments among others.


Al-Rawas confirmed that the Royal Oman Police's integrated programs and systems enable it to provide digital services by linking it with relevant systems such as the customs system, the passport, and civil status system, electronic insurance platforms, the system for linking with insurance companies, and the system of electronic devices, apart from


self-services for paying fines and printing vehicle licenses.
