NIZWA: Al Dakhiliyah Governorate elected 18 candidates to the municipal council elections from about 85 who contested. Fifteen were from Nizwa, 14 from Bahla, five from Manah, six are from Al Hamra, six from Adam, 10 from Izki, 15 from Samayil, 15 from Bidbid, and three from Al Jabal Al Akhdhar.
The number of voters in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reached 22,337 out of a total of 288,469 votes.
The votes obtained by the candidates are as follows: Ahmed bin Zaid al Busaidy 396 votes and Saud bin Salim al Furqani 381 votes for Nizwa. Khalil bin Khalfan al Qarni 1,044 votes, and Bader bin Hamoud al Julandani 518 votes for Samayil. Saud bin Ali al Shueili 1,106 votes, and Nasser bin Humaid al Wardi 872 votes for Bahla. Nasser bin Mohammed al Dari 1,625 votes and Sultan bin Said al Mahrouqi with 677 votes from Adam. Hamed bin Sulaiman al Abri with 761 and Saud bin Said al Abri with 485 votes from Al Hamra. Obaid bin Said al Junaibi with 867 and Said bin Khairallah al Arini with 662 votes from Manah.
Mubarak bin Yousif al Amiri with 490 votes, and Nasser bin Salim al Amiri with 389 votes from Izki. Waleed bin Said al Siyabi with 545 votes and Yasser bin Fadhil al Maharbi with 456 votes from Bidbid. Walid bin Saif al Zakwani with 163 votes and Ahmed bin Hamad al Nabhani with 155 votes from Al Jabal Al Akhdhar.
Talal bin Ahmed al Saadi, rapporteur of the central committee for the elections of members of municipal councils, said "The use of high tech application had both direct and indirect effect. Also, the number of organisers of the electoral process decreased from 8,000 from various government sectors to just 500 employees. Now the electoral process can be organised within a week, unlike before."
Dr Khalifa al Hinai, a lawyer, judge from Al Dakhiliyah, said: "In the App, there was an option not to elect anyone because I do not see the right person to represent me in this state, meaning that I do not find a suitable candidate according to my estimation. But I abstained from voting without examining the terms of reference of the municipal councils. I saw the terms of reference, and they are found in the municipal councils. I wonder if anyone who encourages non-voting has read the law and terms of reference. "
Sami al Hinai, a voter from Nizwa, said: "The voting process was super easy. The usual effort vanished in a few moments and, on the hand, thanks to the Ministry of Interior and other institutions. The application is so smart that it knows that you are the card owner by showing your image directly. This is a move that we are proud of."
