The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Omantel on a joint cooperation to provide support to a number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) registered with the Authority within the Supplier Development Programme.

The MoU was signed by Halima bint Rashid al Zaria, Chairperson of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and Talal bin Said al Mamari, CEO of Omantel.

The MoU comes within the framework of the partnerships through which the Authority seeks to empower the owners of SMEs and support their businesses in various commercial activities in order to maximise the path of local added value, enhance their access to business opportunities, transfer knowledge and enhance their professional standards in order to build an advanced model of small and medium enterprises.

The MoU includes a provision for providing technical and advisory support to SMEs registered with the Authority and participating in the programme with regard to obtaining business opportunities in contracts, tenders and procurement from Omantel, in addition to SMEs as suppliers to Omantel through chain of contracts and procurement thus enhancing their efficiency, supporting its sustainability and growth.

The Authority seeks, in cooperation with Omantel, to provide training services to qualify and SMEs specialised in private contracts and procurement during the coming period, in order to activate the terms of mutual understanding.
