Private security force to guard Seeb waterfront

Muscat - Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Hamidi, Head of Muscat Municipality, on Sunday signed an agreement with the Security and Safety Services Corporation to provide various services at Seeb waterfront.


Retired Brigadier General Saeed bin Sulaiman al Asimi, CEO of Security and Safety Services signed the agreement on behalf of the company.


The agreement comes in accordance with Local Order No. (32/97) regarding the protection of public facilities affiliated with the Muscat Municipality issued by Royal Decree (8/92).


According to the agreement, the Security and Safety Services Corporation will provide security personnel to carry out surveillance work on a daily basis on the waterfront in the Wilayat of Seeb and its affiliated facilities, or any other sites determined by the municipality when necessary, in the morning and evening shifts.


The working hours will be doubled during the weekend.


The security personnel will monitor behaviors that may harm public health and environmental safety, including throwing waste in places other than those designated for it, spitting, tampering with the contents of garbage collection containers, entry of vehicles and bicycles to beaches, setting fires, grilling on green spaces, dogs and animals, leaving children unattended, camping violations.


They will also regulate people venturing into the sea waters during high and any actions that may damage trees and crops, disturb visitors, and any behavior that offends modesty or is inconsistent with public order


This agreement is the first of its kind for the Muscat Municipality to use security and safety services in the field of monitoring beaches and protecting public facilities for a period of one year, subject to renewal.


As a first stage, we target the Sur Al Hadid area as it is a popular site for visitors throughout the day, especially during holidays.
