The Sultanate of Oman will continue to experience the change in weather which began yesterday, owing to an extension of a groove from an atmospheric depression, which led to sporadic rains in the governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and the coastal areas of the Sultanate of Oman.

Rains of varying intensity in the eastern parts of the Musandam Governorate has also led to runoff of reefs and valleys. It is expected that the rains will continue in a sporadic manner in the governorate during the night and the next two days.

Most of the parts of the country would experience low clouds condensation and unstable weather during these days and chances of rain will continue during the coming days in a number of governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that many governorates received heavy rains which led to flowing wadis and flash floods.

On Thursday, Salalah Airport station recorded 6.4 mm rain until 10 pm, which led to flowing wadis in the mountainous and coastal areas of the Dhofar Governorate.

The Civil Defence and Ambulances Authority (CDAA) has warned both citizens and expatriates to observe caution and not to venture out to the wadis which is a criminal offence.

"People are urged not to cross wadis or drive across the flash floods which is dangerous and is a criminal act. Observe caution and get in touch with the CDAA in case of emergencies," the Authority spokesperson said.
