Oman Stallions cruise past Yalla Shabab

MUSCAT: Oman Stallions edged past Yalla Shabab by 3 wickets and Muscat CT beat AER Bin Ali by 7 wickets in the Premier Division League Season 2022-23 powered by Muscat Pharmacy.


On Friday, Oman Stallions put Yalla Shabab to bat first. Openers Mujibur Ali and Hannan Rizwan gave them a cruising start stitching a 73 runs partnership. Although, the spin trio of Jiten Ramanandi (2-20), Mohit Patel (2-32) and Karan Sonavale (3-45) did not allow any batsman of Yalla Shabab to capitalise and kept taking wickets at regular intervals to bundle them to just 199.


In response, Yalla Shabab picked 2 early wickets in the powerplay. Sankata Prasad (60 of 95) and Yasir Ali’s grit and determination to stitch a 75-run partnership for the fifth wicket made a difference and put Oman Stallions close to victory.


Jiten Ramanandi’s quick fire 30 ensured the Stallions got to the mark to register their second win of the league. Kaleemullah was the lone armer for Yalla Shabab bagging 4 wickets.

Skipper Jatinder Singh of Muscat CT elected to bowl first in the Saturday’s match. Debutant Akash Mohit and campaigner Munis Ansari fired in all cylinders at the AER batsman picking three of them in the powerplay.


A steady partnership between skipper Aamir Kaleem and his deputy Zeeshan Siddiqui allowed AER breathing space. Although, wickets kept falling at regular intervals creating voids to enable them reach a respectable score. AER were bundled out for 160 in 47.1 overs. Munis Ansari ended with 4 wickets and Akash Mohit bagged 2 as well. In response, Muscat CT started off with Jatinder Singh and Shoaib Khan stitching a 60-run opening partnership for the powerplay. Shoaib Khan continued his brilliant form with an unbeaten 83 runs and ensuring Muscat CT claim 2 points of the contest.


BRIEF SCORES: Yalla Shabab 199 all out in 43.3 overs (Hannan Rizwan 32 (26b, 4x4,1x6), Mujibur Ali 32 (50b, 6x4); Karan Sonavale 3-45, Jiten Ramanandi 2-20, Mohit Patel 2-32) lost to Oman Stallions 202-7 in 48.2 overs (Sankata Prasad 60 (95b, 4x4,1x6), Jiten Ramanandi 30 (29b, 2x4,1x6); Kaleemullah 4-21) by 3 wickets.


AER Bin Ali 160 all out in 47.1 overs (Aamir Kaleem 33 (40b, 4x4); Munis Ansari 4-31, Akash Mohit 2-44) lost to Muscat CT 161-3 in 30.4 overs ( Shoaib Khan 83 (98b, 12x4); Mohd Hashim Syed 1-25) by 7 wickets.
