MUSCAT: Indian Social Club Oman Awadhi Wing conducted second edition of APL (Awadh Premier League) on December 16 and 17, 2022 at Al Hail Cricket Ground. The first edition was a grand success which was held in 2019. Due to pandemic the second edition could not take place for last two years. This year there were two categories first Challenger’s cup where eight teams fought for the title, in another category a match was played between Indian Embassy and Indian Social Club Oman.
HCC and AKCT Muscat reached to the finals where HCC won the second edition of APL and the trophy and cash prize RO 250 was handed over to the HCC captain by Dr Sheby Siju from Wassan Speciality Dental Center. The Runner up trophy and prize money RO 100 was handed over by Mr Praveen Kumar, Head of Chancery Embassy of India.
Man of the series award went to Somu of HCC, Best batman of the tournament was given to Bilal of AKCT and Best Bowler award went to Akshay of 1983 CT. All these awards were handed over by Mr Roobesh Venkatraman Vice President of Bahwan Automobiles Trading.
Arun Pandey Convenor of Awadhi Wing and Managing Director of Al Yam Enterprises LLC said Awadhi wing has always provided great platform to the community to showcase their talent whether its sports or any other activity. Cricket is a game which is very popular in Oman and it is played with great passion. I am happy that we have concluded the second edition successfully and appreciate the work done by Committee members Maanas Kapoor, Seema Chaudhery, Shital Kumar, D N Mishra, Prabhas Pandey, Vikas Saxena and Sanjit Kanojia
