Oman Oil Marketing Company Marine ( OOMCO) inaugurated its Duqm maritime fuel station yesterday under the patronage of (SEZAD) Deputy Chairman Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb.
“The launch of this new terminal in Duqm serves to fulfil the growing demand for high-quality marine fuel in the port of Duqm,” shared OOMCO Chairman, Hilal al Kharusi in his keynote speech at the inauguration ceremony.
“This integrated station will include tanks with a capacity of 30,000 cubic metres.In addition to providing high specification marine fuel according to ISO standards,” he added.
The station will provide very-low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), low-sulphur marine gasoil (LSMGO), and high sulphur fuel oil ( HSFO) compliant to ISO 8217 specifications. The station’s provision of low-sulphur fuels lies in accordance with the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) decarbonisation goals.
“At OOMCO we draw inspiration from Oman’s 2040 vision that aims to develop a sustainable economy in terms of economic and environmental well-being, and we have applied that while designing and implementing the project,” shared OOMCO CEO, Tarik al Junaidi.
Vessels will be able to receive bunkers through a bunker barge or through road trucks at a pumping rate of up to 1,000 m3 / hour. In addition, vessels will be able to utilise various services at the port such as freshwater supply, pilotage, ship handling, crew change, and dry dock services.
OOMCO Marine is Oman Oil Marketing Company SAOG (OOMCO)’s bunker division. Chief Executive Officer, Tarik al Junadi, shared some insight into the company’s future plans.
“We are looking forward to expanding our bunkering services not only in Oman but in the rest of the world. We are looking at the UAE, and Singapore hopefully which happens to be the biggest bunkering hubs of the world.”
