The missing woman, Hameeda bint Hamood al Amriyah, was found dead by a citizen, Royal Oman Police said, on Monday.

The procedures are underway to hand over the body to her family.

The 57-year-old woman from the Wilayat of Izki went missing on October 3.

Earlier on Monday morning, social media was buzzed with reports that Hameeda has been found dead at the top of a mountain in the area after 56 days.

Sources in the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said, "We have found a body but cannot confirm until the forensic reports are received following which details will be released through our social media platforms."

Competent authorities have carried out intensified search campaigns for her that included voluntary teams from several governorates. She left her house for a Holy Quran and never returned after that.

Yusuf al Hadrami, her son, said on Friday, “More than 53 days have passed, but we have not lost hope of finding my mother.”

Abu Talal al Hamrani, a journalist, has announced a reward of RO 11,000 for anyone who provides information on the woman.
