The Qatar World Cup 2022 started with many upsets raising levels of excitement among football fans. Many who resisted the temptation of going to Doha to witness the real actions are excited now to grab an opportunity to witness the action on the field.

For Caila Amman McHugh (pictured), a young American researcher at the SQU, it’s like her dream come true, as she’s flying on November 29 on Oman Air to get glimpses of her nation facing the Iranian team.

“I’m truly excited and can’t wait to see my team facing the named and famed Iranian team. Thanks to the holidays, I’ve secured air tickets and passes to the match,” Caila, who joined the university just two months ago, said with a big smile.

“If Saudi has beaten Argentina, we have better chances, and hopefully, the US team will win over Iran,” she quipped.

Caila has watched most of the matches at different outdoor locations, and she’s all praises for the larger-than-life screens placed at different corners of the city.

“The Sultanate of Oman’s proximity with the host nation is helping me to be connected with all the happenings, cheers and tears and keeping myself in the mood.”

She thanked Oman Air as the shuttle flight changed the period from 24 hours to 48 hours.

“And that’s a great boon that I can spend more time in Doha watching other matches and cheer for other favourite teams,” she said.
