ISM hosts CBSE Cluster U-19 girls football

MUSCAT: The CBSE Cluster Under- 19 girls football tournament kicked off on November 8 at the Indian School Muscat grounds. There were 6 teams in the fray, in the U-19 Girls category, from 6 CBSE affiliated schools in Oman.


Each one of them was in a frenzy to prove better than the opponent to bag and lift the coveted trophy at the CBSE Cluster 2022.


The first round of the knockout matches of all the U-19 teams was played in the morning. In the first match, Indian School Muscat (ISM) met Indian School Al Maabela (ISAM) in which ISM defeated the opponent by scoring 4-2 goals respectively.


Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) beat Indian School Darsait (ISD) in the second game by scoring three goals.


The U-19 teams that won the first round in the morning fought for a berth in the semifinals in the afternoon. The first semifinal was played between Indian School Al Wadi Kabir (ISWK) and Indian School Bausher (ISB), while the second semifinal was played between Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) and the host Indian School Muscat.


In the one-sided match, Indian School Al Wadi Kabir defeated Indian School Bausher by scoring 6-1 and qualified to the final. In another hard-fought match, ISM defeated ISG 2-1, to reach the final.


In the final, the Indian School Al Wadi Kabir team took a 2-0 lead against ISM and coasted to victory.


The highlight of their victory was the stupendous saves of their goalkeeper.


Guest of Honour, of the day’s function, Zainudheen C, Vice-Chair, Purchase Subcommittee, Indian School Muscat, School Management Committee, in his address expressed his pleasant surprise to see the girls playing football beyond his expectations. He urged the students to continue playing football, for it ensures physical, mental and moral fitness of a person. He appreciated Principal Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan and the school management for giving adequate importance to both academics and outdoor games.


After the speech, the guest of honour gave the medals, the runners and winners trophies and


expressed his gratitude to the six Under 19 Girls participating teams.


Indian School Muscat finished second to obtain the runners trophy, while Indian School Al Wadi Kabir snatched the winners trophy. Indian School Bausher (ISB) and Indian School Al Ghubra, who shared second place, received their medals.
