Oman’s green steps unveiled at COP27

Sharm El Sheikh: Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, held a meeting with Christopher Bachmeier, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional and International Cooperation of the US, on the sidelines of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP27), in Sharm el Sheikh on Thursday.


During the meeting, the American side was briefed about Oman’s efforts on environment conservation, achievement of net zero emissions and the use of renewable energies and green hydrogen.


Al Amri also held a meeting with Dr Muawieh al Rudaideh, Minister of Environment in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The two officials reviewed measures to exchange expertise between the two sides in various environment fields and means of boosting cooperation between their respective institutions.


Al Amri held a meeting with Dr Tawfiq al Sharjabi, Minister of Water and Environment in the Republic of Yemen, on the sidelines of the summit. Al Amri and Al Sharjabi exchanged views about various ecological aspects, notably the environmental challenges posed to Yemen.


The meeting discussed proposals for cooperation between the two countries to establish joint environmental projects and exchange expertise in protecting sea turtles, combating invasive plants and early warning to address multiple hazards. — ONA
