Eid al Farsi, Al Maqbali, Al Busaidi miss out of Oman squad

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2022 AFC Cup, Eid al Farsi, Seeb’s forward Abdulaziz al Maqbali and experienced midfielder Ali al Busaidi missed out of the Oman squad, announced by head coach Branko Ivankovic on Thursday.


Al Farsi was one of the stars in Seeb club after his dominating display and his valuable assistance to the team to register different accomplishments including the HM Cup, top-tier Omantel League title, Super Cup and the latest historic achievement of AFC Cup.


Branko's squad for the internal camp and the abroad preparatory camp in the UAE will miss attendance of key players of the AFC Cup champions. On the other hand, the squad will feature some new faces including Al Nahda’s Ahmed al Matroushi and Ali al Hinai after their top performance during the previous round of the Omantel League.


A total of 25 probables have been called up for the upcoming camps from November 10 to 21. The scheduled 11-day camp is part of the team’s preparation for the Arabian Gulf Cup in Iraq's Basra and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.


The Red Warriors were back to action on Thursday after some time. The team players resumed training in Muscat and then will travel to Dubai after Germany match. The domestic warm-up gathering will feature a strong friendly match as Oman will host Germany on Wednesday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The match will start at 9 pm. The camp in Dubai will feature a friendly game against Belarus on November 20.
