

Khasab: The Governorate of Musandam will see a number of projects including in the fields of free zones, renewable energy (solar energy, wind energy and green hydrogen).
There is a trend in the governorate to revise the dam projects and prepare a comprehensive study of the paths of wadis to determine the best locations for the constructing wadis and utilizing the groundwater reserve.
The office of the minister of state and governor of Musandam, signed an agreement for organizing international sports and tourist activities in the governorate and to highlight the natural beauty which exists in all four wilayats of Musandam Governorate.
Commenting to ONA, Nofal bin Mohammed al Kamzari, assistant director of the Department of Heritage and Tourism, said that the department stepped up its efforts to promote the governorate as a model tourist attraction through receiving large ships carrying a large number of tourists of various nationalities.
He added that the zip line project, expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of this year, is a new addition and a tourist product that would upgrade adventure tourism. Besides, contracts were signed for the construction of three hotels in the wilayats of Bukha and Mad’ha in a bid to increase the number of resorts to meet the growing number of tourists arriving in the governorate, the official said.
In reference to the Royal Decree establishing the National Natural Park Reserve in Governorate of Musandam, surveys conducted by the Environment Authority in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Musandam indicated that the reserve occupies an area of 1,149.40 km2, and encompasses nine offshore islands, coasts, offshore shoals, creeks, and bays.
Musallam bin Mubark al Mahri, Director of Environment of Department, said that the department devised a programme for implementing more than eight tourism campaigns this year in addition to beach clean-up campaigns and intensifying environment awareness campaigns.
The department drew up a plan to boost afforestation in the governorate and develop coral reefs by implementing the national initiative to plant 10 million trees in the governorate during the first quarter of 2022. A total of 8,600 seedlings were planted in cooperation with public and private establishments and the local community in a bid to instill the culture of afforestation, improving the vegetation cover and spreading green areas, the official said. — ONA
