Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) launched an awareness campaign via social media, entitled #YourRightYouKnow, which aims to protect the rights of telecom service users, by making them aware of their rights and obligations towards telecom service providers.

The telecommunication service providers also interacted during the launch by publishing a number of awareness messages via the hashtag #YourRightYouKnow, on the steps to file complaints that the beneficiary must follow. The campaign targets all segments of society, including citizens and residents.

The campaign will include a set of awareness messages on several topics of interest to the beneficiary, including those identified by the Regulations on the Rights of Users of Telecommunications Services, such as international roaming, billing, advertising messages, beneficiaries' grievances and children's rights, in addition to other issues such as fraud.

It is noteworthy that the TRA issued a list of beneficiaries' rights last September, which included 11 chapters divided into 75 articles, concerned with regulating the relationship between beneficiaries and telecommunications companies or their licensees, with the rights and obligations arising from them. These efforts stem from the authority's strategy and responsibility towards taking care of the interests of beneficiaries and promoting the use of telecommunication services.

Communication with the authority is through their official channels, either by calling the number 1000 or the WhatsApp number 24222222 or through the authority's website. It is important to record the complaint number and to know its registration number, as well as to know the time required to resolve the complaint from the call centre. It is worth noting that keeping documents is one of the most important reasons for the complainant to ensure his right.
