Omani Dates Festival begins tomorrow

Muscat - The 8th Omani Dates Festival, the largest agricultural event in the Sultanate of Oman, will kick off on Monday, November 6, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.


The festival, to be inaugurated by Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), aims to promote Omani date products and attract visitors and tourists to introduce the types of Omani dates, and encourage producers and farmers to take care of and preserve palm trees.


The eighth edition of the festival, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, in cooperation with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, includes many events and competitions, an exhibition of photographs, in addition to a children's theater.


A number of farmers, producers, and owners of the date processing units from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman will participate to display varieties of Omani dates and their derivatives using innovative and modern methods.
