First division league representatives Al Shabab recorded a crucial 2-1 victory against Sohar in a thrilling encounter of HM Cup last-16 round at the Al Rustaq Sports Complex on Thursday night.


Al Shabab bounced back strongly in the second half after Mohsin Jawaher’s leading goal in the 45th minute for Sohar as Anwar al Fouri equlaised in the 48th minute while Salim al Hasawi netted the winner in the 82nd minute. The triumph confirmed Al Shabab's entry to the quarterfinals while Sohar crashed out from an early stage of the coveted cup.


Oman Club's Shawqi al Raqadi was the star of the match as he scored a brace to deliver a crucial win for his team against Al Ittihad on Thursday.


At the Seeb Stadium in Muscat, the capital city based team managed to secure spot in the last-eight stage after they defeated Dhofar Governorate's team 2-0. The goals in the fixture were scored in the 79th minute and 83rd minute by Shawqi al Raqadi.


Runners-up of Omantel League Al Nahda showed top display against Al Musannah on Thursday as they defeated them 3-1 at Al Buraimi Sports Complex.


After a goalless draw in the first half, Al Nahda’s Abubaker Demba opened the scoring account as he netted the opening goal in the 57th minute.


Ahmed al Matroshi doubled the result as he registered the second goal in the 66th minute while Al Mundher al Alawi confirmed Al Buraimi representative team’s victory as he scored the third goal in the 72nd minute. The only goal for Al Musannah came from Ali al Mujaini in the 81st minute.


In the last-32 round, Al Shabab edged past Nizwa 4-2 while Al Nahda beat Ibri 2-0 and Oman Club managed to defeat Ahli Sidab 2-0.
