RO 18.2m contract awarded for new Central Public Health Lab

A contract award for the construction of a new Central public Health Laboratory for the Ministry of Health has gone to well-known Omani contractor Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG.


The latter announced in a filing to the Capital Market Authority (CMA) on Wednesday that it received the contract valued at RO 18.2 million. The facility will come up at Al Khoudh in the Wilayat of Seeb in Muscat Governorate. The project construction phase is about 24 months.


As previously revealed by the Ministry of Health, the Central Public Health Laboratory will serve as an integrated complex of laboratories featuring the latest equipment and testing technologies.


The new complex will be designed and equipped for a state-of-the-art Level 3 safety lab testing capabilities for tuberculosis and other highly infectious viral diseases, a genetic sequencing department, and other departments that will be developed as a neonatal screening department for metabolic diseases.
