Over 5,000 UTAS students and staff access digital services

NIZWA: The Centre for Educational Technologies at University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Nizwa developed 14 digital services, which serve over 5,000 students and employees.


The Centre for Educational Technologies is one of the leading centres supporting the teaching and learning processes at UTAS-Nizwa. The Head of the Centre, Eshaq bin Aziz al Mandhari, said that the centre provides the necessary digital services with the latest technologies that support the educational process in the university branch. The laboratories keep pace with safety standards and broaden academic horizons of staff and students.


The centre hosted ten workshops in information security and 8 seminars in creative technology. The number of technical support requests submitted by the centre during the academic year 2020–2021 amounted to approximately 6,000.


Ayman bin Suleiman al Sabahi, Head of the Computer Division, said: "We are pleased to provide technical support to our students. These services include high-speed computers, wired and wireless infrastructure for all students and staff; designing and managing websites of the university; branch, and finding innovative solutions to the technical problems facing the university. We are also keen on securing protection of IT networks." Khamis al Khusaibi, Head of the Educational Services Division, said: "We provide an online learning platform equipped with educational media, lectures and quarterly reports, which a student can access from home. We also provide designs, models and posters for graduation projects and start-ups to promote entrepreneurship." Mohammed al Shueili, Head of the Library Services Division, said: "We provide a range of traditional and online information sources related to the academic and research programmes offered by the university. We also aim to develop library services for all beneficiaries in line with their needs and aspirations.”
