Conference on maritime sector and blue economy begins

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, organized the Oman Maritime Exhibition and Conference at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, on Monday.


Held under the theme ‘Towards Blue Economy and Sectoral Integration’, the three-day event aims to promote the Sultanate of Oman as a global maritime destination.


The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr Saud Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. The participants include representatives of the maritime logistics services and supply chain, port management, aquaculture and maritime marketing sectors.

The conference aims to promote the Sultanate of Oman and attract investments to the maritime economic sector, develop marine projects, exchange expertise and experiences between specialists, concentrate on the maritime sector and highlight its importance for the national economy. It seeks to draw up a national programme to regulate and upgrade the maritime sector in the Sultanate of Oman.


The conference serves as an international platform for gathering scientific papers to enable researchers and academics to discuss emerging topics and issues related to the maritime sector. It includes sessions and workshops focusing on the development of the blue economy, highlighting investment opportunities and challenges and presenting successful experiences in this sector. — ONA
