Mwasalat has introduced point to point services within the Ruwi area, which is fast becoming popular among those frequent these areas.
Commuted on 24 seater mini buses, the mini bus service begins at Ruwi bus station and stops at Ruwi taxi point, Ruwi commercial area, Al Walajah School, Baladiya Street, Souq Ruwi, Hillat al Aliya, Hamriya roundabout, Hamriya, High Street, and returns to the bus station for the next service.
"This bus service is introduced as part of catering to the low income groups who want to ply between these points in down town Ruwi," said a Mwasalat official.
This down town Ruwi transportation service is extended upto late night and is available every 4 minutes for the convenience of the passengers.
This service, besides the short distance services to places like Wadi Kabir, is planning more such inclusive services to other nearby areas of the city including Old Muscat and Sidab.
"I have been using this short distance service since it launched recently and I found it very convenient to fulfil my tasks in and around Ruwi," said a passenger, adding that “these services are cheaper than line taxi services.”
'Mwasalat', the erstwhile Oman National Transport Company, is a member of ASYAD Group, and is engaged in offering a modern and efficient public transport system, committed to cutting-edge technology.
In addition, it has been working on a daily basis with its stakeholders in providing a world-class public transport service.
It has so far transported 5 million passengers in its 36 bus routes. An average of nearly 4,000 passengers make use of the service daily.
It has transported more than 210,000 passengers and 9,100 tonnes of cargo on the Shannah-Masirah route since the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic through its ferry service between Masirah Island and Shanna Port.
This ferry service contributes greatly to facilitating the movement of passengers between the island and the mainland, and helps enhance economic activities and services.
