Paving the way for others

“What would you like to be in the future? This was the question, which paved the way for most of us; it changed the way we look at life instead! Teachers have always been the ones who first inspired us to dream; to have dreams and believe in them. For most of us, we will be remembering at least one teacher who made a positive impact on our life at some point or the other. Teachers contributed to making us the person we are today. For the teachers, they are as proud as our parents when celebrating our accomplishments.

Teachers are the first who believe in their students; it is them who start paving the way for students. Without their support and guidance, most of students could have lost their way. During the early days of school, our teachers used to question us aiming to instill hope, confidence and the brightness of future in us. With their interest to bring us the brighter future even closer while we were kids, we were longing to live our dreams. All our dreams have started since our teachers believed in us and urged us to plan our dreams and future.

Everyone of us dreamed in the past to become something - a doctor, a policeman, a pilot, an engineer, a teacher, a captain and just any other professionals. This is how our dreams started, rather even became bigger and bigger by the time we grow. Teachers switch the flames of our dreams, which some of us are experiencing now. Perhaps, some have not achieved what they dreamed of, but at least they started the journey of their dreams. It is all because of their teachers’ inspiration.

Without the teachers' encouragement and support, students' dreams would have never become true. Oprah Winfrey, an American media executive, actress and TV producer, said right, “For everyone of us that succeeds, it is because there is somebody there to show you the way out. The light doesn’t always necessarily have to be in your family; for me it was teachers and schools”. It is an undeniable fact that teachers have highly contributed in shaping their students’ personalities and future.

A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others. Regardless how positive and negative the attitude of a teacher is, he/she could definitely make a difference in one’s life. Students kick off their journey of life with their teachers since the early years of childhood. For some kids, the journey starts at the age of five or earlier perhaps at kindergarten, while others in first grade of school at the age of six.

In teaching, you cannot see the fruits of a day’s work; it is invisible and remains so maybe for 20 years. This is how it works because the outcomes are not always tangible. However, teaching is the profession that teaches all other professions. All the successful people, leaders and decision-makers have been taught by teachers either at schools, colleges or universities. Teachers had started their student’s mission of acquiring knowledge from all the experiences that students have come across throughout their years of study. Every teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart.

Dear valued teachers, you are all very admirable and respectable. You have always left no stone unturned to feed students with knowledge and enlighten them with experiences. You are more than just teachers, but fathers, brothers and friends. Likewise, women teachers are mothers, sisters and friends for the girls. As the world is commemorating International Teacher Day, it is time to acknowledge the commendable devotion of all teachers towards their students. Thank you, all teachers, and may Allah bless all teachers in the world.
