

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) will celebrate World Tourism Day 2022 on September 27 by organizing a number of events and activities.
The celebration comes under the slogan Rethinking Tourism of the World Tourism Organization as the sector recovers from the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vision 2040 aims to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the Sultanate's GDP to 5% by 2030 and 10% by 2040, while it was 2.4% in 2021 , according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information NCSI).
The number of citizens Omanis working in the hsopitlaity sector has increased by 39.3 percent from 3,752 in 2020 to 5,230 last year.
As part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, MHT will organize the Oman Tourism Forum on September 27 and 28 to introduce the best products in adventure tourism.

The forum will review the experiences of individuals and companies and their role in developing local communities and the need for safety requirements in adventure tourism.
The Sultanate is expected to receive a large number of World Cup fans between November 20 and December 18, 2022
