AKCT won the 32-team MTCL one-day cricket tournament title after defeating Ruwi Smashers in the final held at the Al Amerat Stadium on November 9. The tennis-ball tournament was organised by Muscat Tennis Cricket League (MTCL) with support from the Oman Cricket.


This is the first time that a complete tennis ball cricket tournament is being held at an international cricket stadium in Oman.


The tournament, held with the participation of most of the leading clubs in Muscat was a grant success for the overwhelming response from across the country.


Earlier, MTCL was the first to host the final of the Tennis Ball Cricket League at the Oman Academy Cricket Stadium in Al Amerat this year. On September 9, the tournament started at 6 am with 32 teams vying in the knockout matches held at the two international grounds of Oman Cricket Academy.


The popular MTCL is managed by Shaheer KC , Muhammed Rafi and Anuraj Rajan. A 25-member volunteers' team put their effort to make the event a huge success. It was an unforgettable day for all the cricketers and cricket lovers in Muscat.


The tournament which was noted for the presence of Oman cricket team captain Zeeshan Maqsood and all-rounder Khurram Khan adjudged AKCT's Bilal Malik as 'the man of the tournament', while Ruwi Smasher’s Althaf Muhammad was named the best batsman of the tournament and Hampton Cricket Club's Zeeshan Rana the best bowler.


MTCL official Shaheer KC mentioned of bringing the tennis ball cricket to international levels in Oman, as the organisers were advancing with the aim of forming a club in collaboration with the Oman Cricket.


"We expect everyone's cooperation in the upcoming tournaments and will bring tennis ball cricket to greater heights," Shahir KC added.
