70K trees to be planted in Dhofar

Salalah: The Environment Authority (EA) is pressing ahead with the 70,000 tree-planting project in different wilayats of the Governorate of Dhofar. The project comes within the framework of the national initiative to plant 10 million wild trees.


Eng Mohammed Salim al Hardan, Director General for Environment Conservation told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the project includes planting trees in government-owned and private sites.

Al Hardan added that 9,278 trees have already been planted at different areas in Dhofar.


Moreover, the national initiative to plant 10 million wild trees aims to improve the green cover in depleted natural grazing areas.
