MUSCAT: In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Oxy Oman representatives recently held an award ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the top 100 outstanding graduates from across the Sultanate who excelled in their 12th grade general diploma results.

The awards event was held at the Sheraton Hotel under the auspices of Dr Layla bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, and the attendance of Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education. Steven Lauver, President and General Manager at Oxy Oman, attended along with other senior executives representing the company.

The event recognised exceptional student academic performances on the general diploma for education in the academic year 2021/2022. Oxy Oman awarded each of the graduates with Apple MacBook Air laptops. The event included musical and dance performances by school students, as well as a speech by one of the honored graduates. The event hall also hosted poster sessions by school students, who presented notable student projects in the sciences, art and literature fields.

This initiative continues Oxy Oman’s collaboration with the Ministry of Education over the past years, as the company has sponsored yearly ceremonies to honor high achieving school students in Oxy Oman’s concession areas. In 2019, Oxy Oman expanded the range of the honoring program to cover all of the Sultanate, by awarding the top 100 outstanding high school diploma graduates.

“We are excited to continue our nation-wide celebration for graduating students, as it highlights Oxy Oman’s long-term focus on education as a central pillar for investment and development in Oman,” said Lauver. “We wish the graduates the best of luck with their higher education and career endeavors, and hope that Oxy Oman’s recognition and award will inspire the graduates to innovate and excel as young Omani leaders.”
