The Oman-UK Comprehensive Agreement signed in 2019 has been a milestone in the bilateral relations between the two friendly states and has benefited the peoples of both countries, according to statistics.

The agreement which stipulates better cooperation in the areas of digital skills and cyber security with special focus on startup stages and start-up, power-up growth of the small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) has been yielding results benefitting both the nations.

A number of sectors are covered under the agreement with a multitude of services including AR/VR Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, Education, Energy, Fintech, Hardware, IoT, IT Solutions, Robotics, Security, and Space Technology and organisations in these sectors will receive support ranging from acceleration, business, training, funding and advice.

Accordingly, the British Embassy in Muscat has initiated the 'UK-Oman Digital Hub' with two separate but linked work strands, ‘Cyber Skills’, and ‘Digital Economy’ which covers multiple small-scale projects designed to help diversify the Omani economy through support to start-up communities, boost employment in digital technology through training and mentoring, and increase cyber resilience through educational qualifications and talent fostering aimed at fulfilling this promise.

Oman Startup Hub is a platform for startups, investors, advisers, and entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate and learn about the innovation ecosystem in Oman in order to build a collaborative ecosystem (OSH).

"I have known of the UK-Oman Digital Hub which has helped a number of Omani youths in their career in various fields and it is a real platform for young Omani nationals and many others to venture into newer spectrums of the chosen fields," said Tariq al Barwani, IT wizard of Oman.

OSH has been providing resources, toolkits, and supporters relevant to entrepreneurs at any stage of their journey and Omani SME has been benefiting in a big way.
