A work camp was organized by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Waqbah, Wilayat of Yanqul, to survey, explore, and treat palms infected with the red palm weevil. The event was held with participation from all the departments of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

This camp was part of an integrated managed programme approved by the Directorate General for Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate to advance the eradication of the red palm weevil with the support of a local community and civil partners.

As part of the program, participants were divided into eight field teams and a women's guidance and awareness team at home to convey the message about the palm weevil menace and ways to detect it before an infestation occurs.

Salim bin Ali al Amrani, Director General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah, stressed the importance of conducting work camps to identify the extent of insect infestations in targeted villages, as well as utilizing control teams to do collective work, and completing the survey, exploration, treatment and removal work with accuracy and quality, as well as educating the community and providing them with information.

Abdul Rahman al Badi, an engineer and observer of the red palm weevil in Al Waqba Village, explained the camp's progress plan and the distribution of the participating teams to achieve the best results for surveying, exploration, treating and removing severely infested palm trees.
