MUSCAT: There is a move to provide marketing support to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). To make their products visible globally, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority is encouraging them to list with major e-commerce platforms.

The department is aiming at listing some 100 SMEs on Amazon, as it is one of the most powerful e-commerce platforms in the world.

The authority organised a workshop to register enterprises and projects with Amazon. More than 56 entrepreneurs participated in the workshop.

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority seeks to create electronic marketing outlets for the products and services of entrepreneurs in the local, regional and global markets.

This initiative is part of the authority's vision to implement the government's digital transformation programme to create a befitting business environment to ensure sustainable development by introducing the best technical and innovative solutions with the latest solutions based on innovation, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies. It aims to provide all available electronic channels to provide services developing sustainable systems based on integration with relevant institutions and entities.

The number of SMEs remarkably increased, and by July, the increase stood at 46.8 per cent to reach 81,460. This gave the authority a background to launch an e-commerce programme and include some 100 small and medium enterprises on Amazon in an effort to deliver Omani SME products and services to the world.

The programme includes guidance on how to use the platforms, practical training, live broadcast sessions with experts in the field, and illustrative videos.

E-marketing is one of the most important modern marketing tools, as it relies on digital technology to market products and services.

The launch of e-services portals for entrepreneurs reflects the authority's keenness to facilitate the provision of its electronic services to entrepreneurs and owners of SMEs. It is to keep pace with electronic systems and accelerating technologies and provide services more intuitively and smoothly, which constitutes a new step in providing more facilities in line with the digital transformation programme of the government.
