The Harmony Foundation, an Indian-based NGO, has presented Her Highness Sayyidah Tania bint Shabib al Said, President of the Environment Society of Oman (ESO), with the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial Awards for Social Justice 2021 on the theme of Environmental Sustainability. HH Sayyidah Tania was cited for her “astounding and remarkable efforts to protect and conserve Oman’s natural heritage through the phenomenal environmental work of the Environment Society of Oman”. The felicitation ceremony took place in the office of the Environment Society of Oman in Muscat.

Each year, the Harmony Foundation identifies a theme for the Mother Teresa Memorial Awards and the Harmony International Conference that aligns with the needs of the hour affecting humanity worldwide. In its 17th year, the Harmony Foundation felicitated selfless individuals, organisations, and leaders who work relentlessly in the realm of augmenting environmental sustainability.

A statement issued by the Foundation noted: “We are truly proud of Her Highness and her sheer dedication to addressing the dire issues of Oman’s environment. Her Highness is a true change-maker who founded the Environment Society of Oman (ESO) in 2004 on the pillars of conserving marine life, protecting land ecology and educating the public about the environment. Her academic expertise in Marine and Freshwater Biology has immensely contributed to the organisation which continues to flourish in Oman with excellent ventures working to protect Oman’s environment and its wildlife.

As a founding member of ESO, Her Highness is also the President of the board of directors of ESO since its establishment. In addition to representing ESO in the media, Her Highness also leads ESO’s advocacy efforts with the government as well as the organisation's fundraising initiatives, including the annual fundraising ball and other corporate fundraising events. Her stupendous environmental endeavours include the ESO’s Say No to Plastic Bags campaign to reduce the single-use of plastics in Oman, which continues to play a pivotal role in ESO’s Say No to Plastic agenda.

The Harmony Foundation wishes Her Highness the very best in all of her environmental endeavours, where she and the Environment Society of Oman continue to leave a lasting legacy.”

In its 18th edition, Harmony Foundation will be hosting the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial Awards for Social Justice 2022 on the theme of "Compassion for the Refugee Children" in the last quarter of this year to felicitate all those stupendous people, organisations and heads of state who have carried out monumental work for refugee children.
