Muscat: During a meeting held via video conferencing on Sunday, the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) highlighted Oman’s experience in implementing census. It explained that the process espoused by Oman is an established global model for shifting from traditional census based on field surveys to census based on national administrative records.

The NCSI referred to the correlation of administrative records, the use of categories, auditing and harmonization, how clashes between administrative records can be rectified and technical support in administrative records, among other issues.

The meeting was held as part of efforts to exchange expertise and study the best practices in the field of statistics. Census 2020 constituted a turning point in Oman’s experience in conducting censuses.
