During the holiday season, families are struggling with every possibility to beat the heat and enjoy summer! It is time for people to have a long refreshing break with family. All have been impatiently awaiting for the summer break to have a break in between the year-end and new school year. Such a break would always be needed to refresh memories, recharge power your body and stimulate interests.

Though summer holidays are winding up, few weeks ahead some are still planning to enjoy till last minute. As summer is always associated with tourism and travelling, people’s holiday plans differ based on their interests to enjoy their time. Spending time and having good moments with family, friends and loved ones depends on the place, its attractions and facilities too. Hence, heading to a place with no sightseeing or any enjoyable facilities is simply a waste of time indeed.

Blessing any tourist landmark is all what makes it a destination or an abandoned place. That is what people, adults and others alike, are looking for when trying to enjoy their holiday. In other words, it is all about finding what really entertains people and attracts their interests. However, many local tourist places are lacking fun and enjoyment and what they need to give to tourists and visitors.

For that reason, why families would spend their money and time on such sights?! Except the natural sightseeing and historical landmarks, there is nothing else that can attract people’s interest and kid’s enjoyment. Likewise, some of those attractions, wherever they are, are not well maintained and equipped to fascinate or even welcome tourists and visitors. Hence, there should be a reform in the overall tourism sectors and they should think for out of the box concepts.

Accordingly, both individuals and families tend to spend their holidays overseas! Although the expenses are a burden on families, but travelling in summer is becoming a priority that shouldn’t be missed by them. They prefer to be out of country exploring cultures and nature of other nations as well as meeting other people. Such an out-of-country experience could be more enjoyable, fruitful investment and serves a reviving break for all.

There is no wonder why people spend their time and money overseas and not in the country instead! Basically, the local tourist places are not matching their interests, perhaps neither serving the demand for entertainment nor the needed staycation facilities. To them, domestic tourism is not serving the purpose, not attractive enough to spend time here.

What requires is to make these places wonderful tourist destinations is a little bit of thinking out of the box. Sometimes only simple ideas could change a place and turn it into a tourist hub not only for locals, but others from outside the country too. A recent case in a point is Salalah, which is regarded a worldwide tourist destination for hundreds of thousands of people. Other than the greenery and refreshing weather, usually there is nothing to entertain people there.

However, what people have observed this year with the different entertainment activities, especially in Darbat area could be the start for a better experience next year. Out of public observation, all that was a fruitful outcome of simple ideas deliverd by Omani youth. The recreation activities and staycation options of tent houses, for instance, have undoubtedly made a difference to visitors’ experience.

More creative and attractive ideas could make an impact on tourism if youth are given the chance to gamble on their ideas. Such an experience is a testimony for the capabilities of Omanis to bring remarkable tourist attractions. Rather, it is an opportunity to play their role and support the government to boost domestic tourism. All they look for is confidence and an opportunity to invest in the sector and turn their ideas into reality.
