The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) organised an awareness gathering for Omani women on Wednesday as part of its Tawasul awareness initiative. In attendance were heads and members of Omani Women Associations across the governorate, entrepreneurs and employees of public and private sector institutions.

The women's gathering discussed the role of women in managing the family's finances and instilling the principles of saving and responsible financing. The gathering also introduced the attendees to e-payment services and systems and CBO's role in the national payment systems.

The CBO asserted in its speech on women's strategic role within the family and the community, and how they are the main pillar of the family who form a strong bond between its members to make it more stable financially, economically and socially. This is validated by the high awareness of Omani women in managing family finances and enhancing its resources to achieve the desired stability within the family and protect it from potential impacts and variables due to development and changes witnessed worldwide at all levels.

In addition, CBO gave presentations on topics related to responsible financing and e-payment services, coupled with a dialogue session discussing the presentation topics and banking sector developments. CBO asserted that these discussions will be the focus of attention of its officials and employees in the process of moving forward towards continuous improvement as well as creating suitable innovative solutions for managing family finances not only in alignment with its requirements, exigencies and needs, but also with each development phase in Oman.

The Central Bank’s Dhofar Tawasul initiative aims at instilling a set of values related to the banking sector, including focus on the community's role in raising awareness on the importance of saving and the principles of responsible financing through a series of lectures and specialised workshops by a group of institutions across the governorate.
