Muscat: A ceremony was held here today to mark the launch of Qadiroon (capable), the first electronic platform for people with disabilities.

The platform hosts 100 sustainable projects and it aims at dedicating specialized outlets for shopping and direct electronic sale of all types of products of interest to people with disabilities.

The launch took place during “Qadiroon” forum, held on Wednesday under the auspices of HH Sayyid Fahr bin Fatik al Said and attended by officials and representatives of the departments concerned.

The forum, organized by the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with Asas Muscat firm, discussed ways to establish sustainable projects that empower people with disabilities, notably in the field of entrepreneurship catering to their experience and abilities.

During the forum, a cooperation agreement was signed between Asas and Ishraqa Institute (a Khimji Ramdas wing for social development). The agreement provides for training and rehabilitation programmes to empower the disabled.

The forum touched on indices and statistics about people with disabilities in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as efforts made by government and private establishments to help this segment of society address issues that might face them in the labour market.
