RO3.5m Sohar Logistics Station opens

Suhar: Sohar Logistics Station for inspection of agricultural, fishery, livestock and foodstuff consignments in the Governorate of North Al Batinah was opened. The project cost RO 3.5 million.


The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, who affirmed the significance of the facility in serving beneficiaries from the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Musandam, among other governorates and adjoining ports.


He said that Sohar Logistics Station will contribute to the marketing and export of agricultural, fishery and food products.

The minister pointed out that Sohar Logistics Station is the outcome of partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and Al Madina Logistic Services Company. The facility serves as an example of services rendered to the private sector in terms of import, export and follow-up of products when exiting or entering the Sultanate of Oman.


The minister went on tour of the station and took note of the transactions and services it offers to beneficiaries across inspection, handling and storage platforms.


Sohar Logistics Station comprises a number of cooling units where consignments of fresh fish and marine products are inspected alongside other products like vegetables and fruits. The facility also inspects livestock and offers customs clearing, lab services and container services. It also includes truck parking, cool stores, business outlets and client service counters. — ONA
