As many as eight stations set up by the Civil Defence and Ambulances (CDAA) Authority are all equipped to render emergency services as the Sultanate of Oman faces the impact of the deep depression, which may cause isolated rains in the coastal areas of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta.
Speaking to the Observer, Lieutenant Ali al Farsi, spokesperson at the Public Relations Department of the CDAA said that the Authority is all prepared to face any untoward incident in the wake of the inclement weather conditions.
"We are closely following up with The Oman Meteorology authorities and are well prepared to act accordingly. We have eight stations located in Al Wusta, three of which are permanent and five are set up for Khareef Dhofar. All stations are manned with experts in rescue operations should the need be," Al Farsi said.
Although the deep tropical depression formed over northeast of the Arabian sea is heading to the northeast towards the Pakistani coast, Oman will be affected by rains in some parts including North and South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Dhofar, and some parts of Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi.
"Precautions are taken to minimise the impact of rains and flash floods and security forces and equipment are already deployed in those places highly prone to have the impact," he added.
Several squads of CDAA forces have already been sent to these areas.
“People in these areas should remain calm and don’t panic. They should follow the official announcements and no forwarded news or baseless information should be followed”, the CDAA official added.
