Sohar to host 2022 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures meet in October

MUSCAT: The International Volleyball Federation FIVB, the world governing body of volleyball, announced recently that Suhar city will host the World Volleyball Beach Pro Tour (in Future class) next October.


FIVB represented by Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour organised in this year, the first edition of the global elite professional beach volleyball circuit in three tiers including: Future, Challenge and Elite 16. Suhar city will host this international tournament in future class category during October 27 to 29. The 2022 season ends with the finals featuring the 10 best teams in the world. As many as 18 events in Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Future events have been completed. The upcoming event is scheduled to take place Budapest city, Hungary during August 11 to 14 and then in Cortegaça, Portugal in August. The following city which will host after Sohar event is Subic Bay, Philippines in December and then the circuit will conclude in Netherlands during the same month.


Suhar city is among 25 cities around the world which were awarded the right to host World Volleyball Beach Pro Tour in Future circuit. The selection of the Sultanate of Oman to host this major volleyball event came due to the capability and ability of Oman to host these kind of top-classes championships. Oman represented by the Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) had hosted many series of FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour including one-star events in the previous years. FIVB established the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour events as replacement of the former FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.


Oman national beach volleyball stars will represent Oman World Volleyball Beach Pro Tour Future in October through a squad comprised of Mazin al Hashmi and Haitham al Shuraiqi in team A while Ahmed al Hosni and Hood al Jalboubi in team B. It is expected the championship will feature participation of the top ranking teams and players from different part of the world.
